Annual Christian Service Invokes Blessings on the Army

The annual Christian Service of the Army Christian Fellowship, organized together with Military Christian Fellowship with the aim of invoking blessings on the Army and its forward-march, took place Friday (30) evening at Christ Church, Colombo 3 with the participation of most senior retired Officers, serving Officers and Other Rankers.

The Service was administered at first by Rev Benedict Joseph, Army Chaplain and subsequently by Rev Wilson Gnanadasam, Vicar in Charge of the Christ Church, Colombo 3 with benediction prayers. Brigadier Manjula Karunaratne, Secretary to the Army Christian Fellowship, delivered the welcome speech.

The special one-hour long Christian Service, an annual feature in the calendar of events in the Army Christian Fellowship, hailed the services, being rendered by the Army for the country and the roles of the Army Christian Fellowship. The Christian Service prayed for the souls of fallen War Heroes and those went missing in action in the battlefields. It also simultaneously invoked blessings on all serving military personnel, those injured and are still recovering.

After the main highlight, General (Retd) C. S Weerasooriya, former Commander of the Army delivered a brief oration explaining the roles of the Military Christian Fellowship. The vote of thanks was delivered by Commodore (Retd) Luky Mendis,Chairperson, Military Christian Fellowship of Sri Lanka.

General (Retd) C. S Weerasooriya, former Commander of the Army, Major General Boniface Perera, Chairman, Army Christian Fellowship, Senior Officers and a gathering of Army personnel attended the service.
