Annual Carols & Army Christmas Service Held

The annual Christmas Carols Service, organized by the Army Christian Fellowship on account of the forthcoming Christmas season was held on Wednesday (10) evening at the Peter De Abrew Memorial Auditorium, Museaus College, Colombo 07.

The special service conducted in both Sinhala and English, was attended by Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest.

Rev. Fr. Benedict Joseph, Sri Lanka Army Chaplain, together with several choirs including the Army choir, conducted Carols, adding festive atmosphere to the occasion. The event began soon after distinguished guests arrived at the venue.

Major General K.W. Edema, Chairman, Army Christian Fellowship received the Commander of the Army on arrival attending this customary Army event in this season of sharing and caring.

Rt. Rev. Oswald Gomis, Archbishop Emeritus read out the Christmas message reminding the gathering of the true meaning of Christmas.

Voices rent to the event by veteran artistes, backed by the Army Choir with the most celebrated melodies, ‘Silent Night’, ‘O Holy Night’, & ‘Felis Navidad’, came in for praise and appreciation. The Peterite Chorale, Past Pupils' choir of Good Shepherd Convent, contribution of Army personnel and combined choirs, added colour and variety to the occasion.

Popular vocalists, Anil Bharathi, Rookantha & Raini Charuka Goonethilake and a few other leading singers, backed by veterans in the Army Choir, added melody and rhythm to the occasion as those soloists appeared before the gathering.

Past Commanders, Retired Senior Army Officers, Principal Staff Officers, Senior Army Officers, Officers and Other Ranks with their spouses, attended the Christmas Carols -2015.
