All Set for Colombo's Exclusive Cat Walk Parade; 'Camouflage': Fashion's Frontline


Viru Daru Society, the organization that creates an optimal environment for recognizing, developing, and nurturing the strengths and talents of children belonging to Army Families, organizes ‘Camouflage’: Fashion’s Frontline, the Fashion Show with a difference, to generate funds to provide scholarships for the children of fallen War Heroes. This was announced by the President Viru Daru Society, Ms. Deshani Jayasuriya at a media briefing held at Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers’ Conference Hall, Colombo this morning (23).

The fashion show, conducted in partnership with Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology (LIFT), showcases designs of 27 designers on 29th April at Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre, Colombo. Ms. Niroshani Leanage, Managing Director LIFT disclosed that twelve design graduates reveal their final collections while another 15 fashion students showcase an Avant Garde collection depicting the theme of ‘Camouflage’ which was initially ideated by Viru Daru members. A special collection highlighting the tea flavours of Lipton will also be a part of the show.

Corporate giant Unilevers has come forward as the Official Platinum sponsor under their sub brand Lipton. United Colours of Benettons is recognized as the Silver sponsor. Besides the financial support, the expertise of many professionals also offered to this show, choreographed by Mr. Lou Ching Wong. Salon Ramzi has volunteered to offer their support as the Hair and Makeup partner and videography by Yasendra Amerasinghe. Kalani Handlooms is recognized as the Official Fabrics Partner. Xtream Youth and Revolution Portfolio have come forward as official online media partners.

During the course of the day, Mr. Lou Ching Wong and Mr. Ramzi Rahaman also elucidated matters on their contribution towards the show.

Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), the live wire behind the Viru Daru Society, accompanied by a large number of Senior SVAB members, Viru Daru members and senior officers of the army was present at the occasion.
