Facilitating the provision of pure drinking water to both troops and civilians in respective areas, a project, initiated by the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) with the patronage of the Navy succeeded in installing 12 more water treatment units (Reverse Osmosis plants) at 51 Division Headquarters, 551 and 521 Brigade Headquarters, 4 Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Training School, 4 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA), 10 SLA, 2 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), 12 Gemunu Watch (GW), 5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) unit premises and the Army Farm in the Jaffna peninsula.
Its brainchild, Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna at the invitation of Major General Roshan Seneviratne, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, 551 and 521 Brigade Commanders, Commandant at SLEME Training School and Commanding Officers of above-mentioned units during 10 - 11 September visited those locations and inaugurated the newly-installed 12 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants at respective places. He also presented a memento to the senior Navy officer who formally informed the SFHQ-J of the completion of the project during one of the simple ceremonies.
Facilities have been extended for all civilians in respective areas to receive purified water from these new RO plants on a suggestion, made by Major General Hettiarachchi under the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) project now on in the north and east.
By mid-September this year, the SFHQ-J has been able to install 19 such RO plants across Army establishments in the peninsula, enabling both troops and civilians alike to share water for drinking purposes free of charge. Buy Sneakers | Men's Footwear
