All Ethnicities Join Hands to Mark Independence Day in Kantale

222 Brigade Headquarters in Jayanthipura, Kantale area under 22 Division carried out a series of sport tournaments and other community-oriented projects in connection with the recent 64th National Independence Day.

A cricket tournament in Ichchalanpattu Divisional Secretariat area, a handball tournament in the same area, a blood donation campaign and a grand prize and certificate awarding ceremony were included in the Independence Day commemorative arrangements. Tournaments took place just four days prior to the Independence Day.

Over 400 civilians meanwhile donated blood irrespective of their ethnic identity during the blood donation campaign. A large number of Muslims, Tamils and Sinhalese including members of the clergy contributed to the success of those programmes.

Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe, 222 Brigade Commander on the Independence Day gave away prizes and certificates to the winners in those tournaments.
