Selected 126 school students learning at Colombo 3, Al-Ameen Vidyalaya on Friday (5) received school books and accessories as incentives for learning, following a directive given by the Commander of the Army to the Army Directorate of Psychological Operations.
All those children of low-income group families in different classes accepted those gift parcels from several representative Army officers in the presence of the Principal and members of the tutorial staff as a programme, launched in connection with the National Independence Day.
Principal and the teachers welcomed the visiting officers and thanked them for their thoughtfulness before they spoke to the children.
Lieutenant Colonel Rajitha Premathilake, General Staff Officer I, together with Major S. Goonasekara, General Staff Officer II of the Directorate of Psychological Operations distributed those stationery and school accessories among those 126 students at the Al-Ameen Vidyalaya.
