Air Marshal Ajit S Bhonsle Calls on the Commander of the Army

The Visiting Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chief of Staff Committee (CISC) and the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine, Organisation and Training) at HQ Integrated Defence Staff of India, Air Marshal Ajit S Bhonsle called on the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva at the Army Headquarters on Friday (15).

He was received by the Commander of the Army along with the Military Secretary, Major General Janaka Walgama, Director General Training, Major General Aruna Jayasekara and Director Operations, Brigadier Priyantha Senaratne on arrival at the Commander’s Secretariat.

After a discussion on matters of mutual interest, Commander of the Army and the visiting dignitary exchanged mementos to mark the occasion.

Air Marshal Ajit S Bhonsle Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal is the Officiating Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) since 01 Mar 2016, in addition, he is the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine, Organisation and Training) at HQ Integrated Defence Staff since 05 May 2014. 

Air Marshal Ajit S Bhonsle was commissioned in the Flying (Navigator) branch in Jun 1978. He is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and National Defence College, Tokyo. He holds M Phil, M Sc, MMS and MBA degrees. 

The Air Marshal has rich and varied experience in Command and Staff appointments. He has commanded the Navigation Training School and Air Force Station, New Delhi. He has been an Air Force Examiner and an Air Force Inspector. He is a Qualified Navigation Instructor with highest category of A-1. He has 5200 hours of accident/incident free flying experience. He has extensively flown in the Leh-Ladakh-Siachen sectors and in support of Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka. His other assignments include Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration of two operational commands and Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor at the National Defence Academy. The Air Marshal was Senior Air Staff Officer of an operational command before assuming the present appointment. He is recipient of Presidential awards Ati Vishist Seva Medal and Vishist Seva Medal.
