Admission to Madu Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya Commenced

Admission of fresh students to Madu Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya in Madu, Mannar for the year 2012, took place at the school premises last week during a brief ceremony, organized by the 54 Division Headquarters at Thalladi, Mannar.

Symbolic enrolment of four Sinhala and Tamil students to the Year 1 class and 10 kids to the school’s kindergarten on the same day by school authorities amply reflected gestures of goodwill, co-existence and harmony that prevails in the area.

Ven Maththanne Indrarathana Thero, Incumbent, Jamburaliya Temple, Bandaragama with the coordination of the General Officer Commanding, 54 Division, provided a large stock of school books and accessories for free distribution among those students on the first day of their admission to the Madu Vidyalaya.

The school was reopened in the year 2011 with the participation of Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni after repairs and renovation.

On the same occasion, in response to a request made by Brigadier M.A.M Dias, General Officer Commanding to the ‘Sarvodaya’ organization, a cash donation of Rs 50,000/=, meant for exclusive purchase of new uniforms to the school band at Kachchaiadampan Vidyalaya, was made to the authorities in front of the gathering.   

The ceremony, headed by Brigadier M.A.M Dias, and Mr A.J Cruz, Zone Educational Director, senior officials from provincial Ministry of Education in Madu and Mannar areas, took place in the presence of school principals, teachers, parents, civilians and students.
