As of this morning (29), a total of 335 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. All of them were from locally-identified affectees, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
By 6.00 this morning (29), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory stands at 5,731. Of them, 1041 are factory employees and other 4,690 are locally-identified contacts of those garment factory-infected employees.
The flight KU 264 from Abu Dhabi with 5 passengers and the flight QR 688 from Doha, Qatar with 12 passengers have arrived in Colombo. All those passengers were referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services after formalities at the airport.
Within the day (29), 927 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 2 persons are from Biyagama Village QC, 164 persons from Bingiriya Teachers' Training School QC, 102 persons from Mirigama Teachers' Training School QC, 94 persons from Pasdunrata Teachers' Training School QC, 175 persons from Dambadeniya Teachers' Training School QC, 139 persons from Penideniya Teachers' Training School QC, 22 persons from from Hotel Koggala Resort QC, 13 persons from Diyagama QC,17 persons from Vidaththapalei QC, 137 persons from Rantambe QC, 34 persons from Army Training School QC and 28 persons from Waskaduwa Citrus Hotel QC.
To-date, 58,697 individuals have left for homes after quarantining. As of this morning (29), 7,039 persons in 70 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (28), 7,870 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 477, 156.
By 6.00 this morning (29), 32 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals. All of them are identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at QCs.
