Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) held its preliminary cricket matches for the Army Inter Battalion 20/20 Cricket (Tennis) Tournament-2015 at three separate grounds in the SFHQ-C area from 25 August to 5 September on the directions of Major General Sumedha Perera, Commander, SFHQ-C.
A total of 17 teams competed for the championship where 7 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) and 14 Gajaba Regiment (GR) qualified for the finals.
The finals were held on 05 September at Mutukumaru Grounds, Diyathalawa. Brigadier K.M.D.A.A. de Silva, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-C graced the finals as the Chief Guest.
7 SLSC, batting first scored 114 runs whereas 14 GR scored only 84 runs. Therefore 7 SLSC beat 14 GR by 28 runs to clinch the championship.
Lance Corporal Wijeratne of 7 SLSC became the player of the tournament while Lance Corporal Bandara of 14 GR was adjudged the Best Bowler in the tournament. Private Jayawardana of 7 SLSC clinched the Best Batsman Award.
The Chief Guest gave away the trophies to the winners and runners-up.
