7 Gemunu Watch Troops Welcome Their Colonel of the Regiment; 682 &;amp; 683 Brigades Visited


Troops of 7 Gemunu Watch Regiment (GW) serving the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) at Udayarkattu greeted the newly-appointed Commander, SFHQ-MLT, Major General P.U.S Vithanage who is also the Colonel of the Regiment, GW when the latter made his first official visit to the 7 GW camp on Friday (10) at the invitation of the Commanding Officer, 7 GW.

A Guard Turnout presented honours to the visiting Mullaittivu Commander before he was invited to ceremonially open the new club unit, erected for Non-Commissioned Officers in the camp. The day's Chief Guest joined a tree sapling in the compound as a token of memory before he addressed senior officers of the Divisions, Brigades, Units and formations who were present at the venue.

Major General Vithanage also did not forget to make religious observances to the shrine at the place before his itinerary got to a start in the 7 GW. The Mullaittivu Commander was invited to the occasion by Lieutenant Colonel P.S.A Amarakoon, Commanding Officer at 7 GW.

Meanwhile, Major General P.U.S Vithanage, visited 682 and 683 Brigades, where he was warmly received by Brigade Commanders of respective Brigades on arrival at the Brigade premises on Saturday (11).

Mullaittivu Commander on his arrival, in accordance with military formalities reviewed the Guard Turnouts at the entrances to the Brigade premises accorded by 18 Vijayabahu infantry Regiment (VIR) and 7 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops respectively.

Commander planted tree saplings to mark his itinerary at 682 Brigade premises and took part in an all rank tea party at the 682 premises.

After exchange views with troops, visiting commander inspected the Brigade premises accompanied by Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division. After that Major General Vithanage laid foundation stone for the officers’ Mess at 683 Brigade. Moreover, Commander stopped over at Udayarkattu to review the construction work of the house for private N Dishaini who is serving at the SFHQ-MLT.
