Troops of the 68 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) organized a Christmas celebration in Mullaittivu on Sunday (25).
A mobile Christmas chariot as part of the programme visited Udayarkattu, Sudandhipuram, Vellamullivaikkal and Iranapalai areas and interacted with Christians who had lined up along the streets. The Santa Claus on board those floats distributed symbolic gifts.
Christmas trees, decorations of nativity scene and Christmas crib were exhibited in Mullaittive area to coincide with the festive season.
Arrangements got underway on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces-Mullaittive and under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 68 Division.
7 Gemunu Watch troops organized a Christmas celebration by giving away toys and books to 40 students and sarees for the teachers at Barathi Vidayalaya, Udayarkattu.
Around the same time, 16 Sri Lanka Artillery troops also organized a separate Christmas function to celebrate Christmas at Sudandhipuram Maha Vidyalaya by giving away toys and books to 40 students and sarees for the teachers at Sudandhipuram School.
The Merit Foundation extended its patronage for distribution of those gifts at respective places.
Senior Officers, officers, other ranks and a large gathering of civilians attended the Carols at respective places.
4 persons from each location among the crowd received push bicycles as incentives.
