66 Div Troops Support Last Minute Preparations for New DS Building Opening at Pooneryn

66 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) in response to a request of the authorities, engaged in the scheduled opening of the new Divisional Secretariat Building at Pooneryn, offered their prompt cooperation to complete the laying of wayside bricks well in time before the inaugural opening on Thursday (22).

On the instructions of Brigadier Duminda Kappetiwalana, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 66 Division troops within a matter of several hours carried out the laying of 3000 interlocking bricks in front of the building, placement of the plaque, provision of a water bowser to the ceremony and assistance to clean up the surrounding just before the opening ceremony got underway.

Mr Krishnendran, Divisional Secretary, Pooneryn, impressed with the speedy and incredibly quick contribution to the project, personally expressed his gratitude and pleasure to the troops and the GOC, stating that their gesture of goodwill symbolizes the sound civil military relations that exist in the area.

Hon Vajira Abeywardena, Minister of Home Affairs attended the opening ceremony.

State officials, provincial politicians, Brigadier Duminda Kappetiwalana, GOC, 66 Division, senior Police officers and a gathering of civilians attended the opening ceremony.
