653 Brigade Troops Distribute Chickens to Promote Living Conditions

653 Brigade troops launched a programme to promote poultry industry among low-income families in Alankulam and Therandakandal areas in Kilinochchi by distributing chickens during a ceremony at Therandakandal community hall on Friday (16).

Those chickens numbering about one hundred were shared among 50 families on the occasion. They were hatched and bred in the 653 Brigade itself.

The programme was organized under the auspices of Major General Sarath Weerawardena, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division and Colonel Sujith Balachandra, Brigade Commander, 653 Brigade.

Taking Kilinochchi social and economic conditions into account, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi is in the process of supporting low-income families and students who need financial and other essential facilities to continue their day to day lives and studies.

Colonel Sujith Balachandra, Brigade Commander, 653 Brigade, Development Officer, Thunukkai District Secretariat Office, Grama Seva Niladharis of villages and civilians attended the occasion.
