65 & 66 Division Troops with Buddhist Monk's Patronage Erect Two New Homes for Helpless KLN Families

11 Gajaba Regiment troops of the 651 Brigade under the 65 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) with the financial support, provided by ‘Thalagala Sri Sidhdhartha Foundation’ offered their technical expertise free and built a new home for a needy family in Iranamatha Nagar, Kilinochchi after troops learnt about their miserable plight.

The efforts of the troops bore fruits and symbolically handed over the newly-erected house to the family of Mr Kayagam Jegada’s family on Tuesday (22) during a brief ceremony, attended by Ms R. Kirija, Assistant Divisional Secretary in Pooneryn, Brigadier Wasantha Kumarapperuma, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division, together with Colonel Chamath Warakagoda, 651 Brigade Commander, Mr Sundarabalan, Grama Niladhari, a few government officers and Officers.

In addition, troops making own collections and with the support of a few outside donors gifted the family with a stock of essentials, including a TV set, plastic chairs, pieces of furniture during the house-warming. Major General Ralph Nugera, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi has extended his blessings to the project.

In the meantime, 18 (Volunteer) Gajaba Regiment and 1 Gajaba Regiment troops of the 662 Brigade under the 66 Division, contributing their precious manpower to make one more down-trodden family happy in Paranthan completed the construction of a new home with sponsorship provided by the ‘Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation’ of Ven Thalagala Sri Sumanarathana Thero of Thalagala Meditation Centre and symbolically handed it during a warming ceremony on Sunday (20).

The initial planning to this effect began during the tenure of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, former Commander SF-KLN after the miserable living condition of Mrs Subramaniyam Rajini and her family in Paranthan was brought to the attention of the SFHQ-KLN. Major General Ralph Nugera, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi afterwards continued the project and instructed respective troops to bring its construction to completion.

On Sunday (20), the new home was warmed in accordance with Hindu religious traditions and symbolically vested the house in the beneficiaries, creating fresh hopes for their new lease of life.
