Amid torrential rains and flooding, 23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops of the 64 Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) in the dead of the night on Thursday (8) repaired a damage caused to the Sinnasalambankulam tank bund which is a large tank in the area.
More than 60 troops on the directions of Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division threw their weight behind the prevention of this major damage which would lead to a catastrophe unless attended on time on priority basis as water levels were fast rising in the tank. Villagers also supported the repair work hand in hand with the troops.
Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu, Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru closely monitored the developments and directed the General Officer Commanding, 64 Division to supervise and do the needful with the participation of respective Commanding Officers and troops.
