612 Troops Facilitate Kovil Festival &;amp; 563 Troops Coordinate Distribution of Donations


612 Brigade troops, together with Police personnel recently facilitated the conduct of the annual Naga Kovil festival at Puttur, Puliyankulam where a record 86,825 devotees took part throughout the whole night.

The festival, organized by the Kovil trustee was given the maximum support and security by 20 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (20 SLSR) troops before, during and immediately after the ceremony during June 18-19.

612 Brigade Commander as well as soldiers paid homage to the Kovil during the all-night festival, together with devotees.

Meanwhile, 88 families at Kelebogaswewa and 24 families at Pirappanmaduwa villages received gift parcels containing dry rations and financial grants, following patronage extended by Ven. Alawwe Gunaratana Thero, resident in Singapore. Several Singaporeans have contributed to the donations.

Vavuniya District Secretary Bandula Harischandra, 563 Brigade Commander Lieutenant Colonel C. Ranaweera and a group of donors attended the occasion.
