6 (V) SLAWC Troops Provide Shoes to Barathipuram Students

Expanding the multiplicity of community-oriented welfare roles, members of the 6 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) volunteered to offer 87 pairs of shoes and socks to the value of Rs 62,600/= to selected students at Ramakrishnam Primary School at Barathipuram.

On hearing that those students from low-income families find it difficult to spend for new sets of school shoes, a collective of those woman Officers and Other Rankers of the 6 (V) SLAWC offered their voluntary assistance by way of colleting funds among themselves for the worthy project.

Those gift parcels, organized to match with specific sizes of recipients included shoes and socks of very high quality. In addition, 6 (V) SLAWC personnel conducted a medical clinic in the school premises with the support of 3 medical officers, following arrangements, made by the Civil Coordinating Officer of the SFHQ-KLN. All students were examined for physical ailments, dental caries and other visionary defects throughout the medical clinic.
