5th Army Contingent to Sudan’s Hospital Ready for Departure

Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps 5th contingent, bound for United Nations (UN) Peace-Keeping Mission in South Sudan’s second level hospital on the eve of their departure to Sudan presented a ceremonial salute to Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) at the SLAMC Regimental Headquarters ground at Werahera on Tuesday (30).

The Sri Lankan contingent already serving the UN assignment in South Sudan is expected to return to the island soon after completion of their tenure of service in accordance with the provisions of the UN.

The 5th contingent, leaving for South Sudan is made up of 4 Medical specialists, 3 Medical Officers and a dentist, 1 Commanding Officer, 7 Administrative Officers, 41 Sri Lankan Medical Corps Other Rankers and 9 Other Rankers from the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Sri Lanka Engineer Corps, Sri Lanka Electrical Mechanical Engineers and Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps.

The contingent is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel M.P.S.R Amarasekara.

Soon after the ceremonial parade saluted the SLMC Colonel Commandant, Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe addressed the troops and extended his best wishes.
