Troops in the 583 Brigade of the 58 Division serving under the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) together with 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) organized an eye clinic on the instructions of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ - West for under-privileged people in Ganthuna area in Kegalle District at Sri Bimbarama Viharaya, Udovita on Tuesday (5).
A total of 222 persons with eye-impairments received Rs. 199,800/= worth spectacles during the clinic and medical consultations were provided free of charge to the attendees.
Dr. Nimal Wijekoon, an Eye specialist at Mahanuwara Opticals (Pvt) Ltd. conducted the clinic, together with his staff.
Chief Incumbent at Sri Bimbarama Viharaya, Ven. Wellipothe Sumeda Thero, Major General K.C. Goonawardane, Commander, 58 Division together with Brigadier Randula Hathangoda, Commander, 583 Brigade, government officials and several Army and Police officers were associated with the event.
