A group of Commando Regiment (CR) instructors, together with members of the Army in the 582 Brigade at the request of the Sri Lanka Scouts Association provided assistance to the conduct of the 5-day long annual Kalutara District Scouts Jumboree at Pothuvila Maha Vidyalaya premises in Payagala, Kalutara early in March.
About 1800 scouts including Cubs from schools in the Kalutara district participated in the event, replete with various adventurous demonstrations, acrobatics, camp fires, etc for which CR instructors extended their training expertise before events got underway each day. Security Force Headquarters – West (SFHQ-West) and the 58 Division have given their blessings to the project.
Brigadier S.M.S.P.B Samarakoon, Brigade Commander, 582 Brigade serving the Kalutara area personally went to the venue and gave support with his troops.
