574 Brigade Troops Throw Weight Behind Tree Planting

One more project to enhance the awareness and importance of tree planting, 574 Brigade troops of the 57 Division of the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) launched a tree planting drive in parallel with the ongoing National Tree Planting campaign ‘Wanaropa’ in Kilinochchi on Thursday (23).

On the instructions of Major General Jagath Gunawardena, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 57 Division, Brigade Commander, 574 Brigade, organized the programme, in which 100 Mara and 100 Kumbuk saplings covering a 2 km stretch in Mankulam and a 2 km stretch in Thirumurukkandi area along the A – 9 road were planted on Thursday (23).

General Officer Commanding (GOC), 57 Division planted a symbolic sapling to mark the inauguration of the tree-planting programme on the day.

572 and 574 Brigade Commanders, Assistant Divisional Secretary for Oddusudan, Deputy Forest Officer, Northern Province, state officials and Senior Officers attended the event.
