Troops of the 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi, (SFHQ-KLN), together with farming community in Ganeshapuram area on Saturday (30) launched a project to clean ‘Ganeshapuram’ water canal, fed by the main Iranamadu tank, running through a vast patch of paddy-fields in the area.
On an initiative of Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, around 50 troops of the 571 Brigade of the 57 Division under the SFHQ-KLN actively took part in the mammoth Shramadana campaign, together with a large gathering of farming community in the area who voluntarily joined hands with the troops.
It was also a measure to further promote understanding and communal harmony between civilians and members of the Security Forces in the area.
Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana, Commander, Security Forces- Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) has given his blessings to the project.
