57 Division Troops Clean Up Kovil Premises before ‘Deepavali’

57 Division troops recently showed their respect to the conduct of the most sacred Deepavali festival of the Hindus in Kilinochchi areas and assisted those temples in different ways.

Troops prior to the Deepavali day volunteered to visit temple compounds in the area, served by the 57 Division and cleaned up the surroundings as per directions, given by Major General Jagath Gunawardene, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division.

Accordingly, after those ‘Shramadana’ cleaning projects were carried out on the previous day, the troops joined specific Poojas (offerings) in Kilinochchi Kanan Kovil and Kilinochch Kandasami Kovil on Deepavali day.

Furthermore, 571,572,573 and 574 Brigades under the 57 Division organized special Deepavali Poojas at Kilinochchi Gana Devi Kovil, Viswamadu Mari Amman Kovil, Kandawali Paththamotti Murugan Kovil, Mankulam Ganapathi Kovil, Minnachchi Amman Kovil, Korakkankaddu Pullaiyar Kovil, Murukkandy Kovil, Thottiyadi Siththi Vinayagar Kovil, Malayalapuram Paththini Aman Kovil, Thiruvai Aru Pullaiyar Kovil, Bharathipuram Amman Kovil, Mayavanur Kannan Kovil and Mailawanapuram Muththumari Amman Kovil with a view to promoting goodwill and reconciliation with Hindus in the areas.

Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi has extended his blessings to the project.
