57 Division Headquarters extended its support for smooth conduct of the ‘Religious Amity Regional Symposium’ organized by the Caritas SEDEC Non-Governmental Organization in Kilinochchi during 12 - 13 October at St Theresa’s Pastoral Centre, Kilinochchi.
The programme, intended to empower and strengthen harmony and co-existence among all religions for Harmony, Peace and Prosperity of the Nation, was attended by clergy of all denominations.
On the directions of Major General Jagath Gunawardana, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), commanded by Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, troops of the 7 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), 16 (V) SLLI and 17 (V) Gajaba Regiment (GR) carried out a ‘Shramadana’ campaign to clean the St Theresa’s Pastoral Centre premises before the symposium was inaugurated.
Similarly, 57 Division Headquarters during both days respectfully invited Buddhist monks attending the symposium to the Headquarters and offered alms to all of them.
Moreover, several Senior Officers representing the Army participated in the event at the invitation of the organizing committee of the said symposium.
