On account of the 21st Anniversary, 56 Division organized a series of events during 15 - 17 October, prioritizing religious observances at the 56 Division Headquarters premises, Kokeliya, Vavuniya.
As the first segment of the commemoration, a Pirith chanting was organized on Monday (15) evening in order to invoke blessings on serving troops and transfer merits to those who have made the supreme sacrifice on behalf of safeguarding the sovereignty of the motherland.
The Pirith chanting was followed by an alms-giving the next morning (16) at the 56 Division Headquarters.
Military formalities to mark the 21st Anniversary got underway with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, accorded to the General Officer Commanding, 56 Division, Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya. Later, the GOC sat for an All Rank lunch at the Headquarters premises.
A musical entertainment on Wednesday (17) evening added fun and excitement to the troops in the 56 Division Headquarters, backed by vocalists of Ranaviru Real Star talent show. The Army Beat Band entertained the large crowd of soldiers gathered in the evening.
The 56 Division was raised at Kanagarayankulam on 17 October 1997 under the Command of Major General (Rtd) M.D.S Chandrapala. latest Running | Sneakers
