56 Division Headquarters Gets New Office Complex

A weekend visit of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake resulted in the inauguration of the new 56 Division Headquarters building of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) on Saturday (24) during a simple ceremony.

The newly-constructed two-storied headquarters building at the 56 Division Headquarters in Kokeliya, a long-felt requirement for administration and other logistic requirements saw its birth with the blessings of the Commander of the Army under the supervision of Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W) and Brigadier Tissa Nanayakkara, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division.

A warm welcome greeted the day's Chief Guest to the 56 Division Headquarters on arrival. A few minutes later, he was invited to warm the new office building by lighting the traditional oil lamp after a plaque to the same effect was unveiled. A group photo chaired by the visiting Commander with all contributors to the project afterwards made the landmark opening memorable to everyone present at the location.

The 56 Division soldiers on guard meanwhile accorded a drive-past Guard Turnout to the day's Chief Guest in keeping with military traditions as a salute in his honour as he entered the premises.

The new two-storied state-of-art office complex in the 56 Division consists of a new conference hall, store room, office units and a computer laboratory.

The Commander did not forget to share a couple of thoughts with soldiers present there before leaving his compliments in the Visitors' Book.
