56 Division Conducts Poson Full Moon Poya Programmes with Donations

People in the area, ahead of the 56 Division Headquarters along the A-9 road in Vavuniya were treated to Kottamalli (Coriander) drinks on account of the Poson Full Moon Poya Day after a special Dhamma sermon was organized with the participation of Kokkeliya village devotees.

Officers and other ranks enthusiastically contributed to the conduct of the Dansela throughout the whole evening. A large number of people enjoyed the hospitality and generosity of the Army troops.

Meanwhile, earlier in the week, more than 150 families in Kokkeliya, Peyadikulam, Shanthasolai and Munawewa villages where both Sinhalese and Tamils live in harmony received some 500 parcels of dry rations, money, clothes, books as gifts, courtesy of Ven. Alawwe Gunarathana Thero, Chief of Singapore Maha Karuna Buddhist Association.

Distribution of those gift parcels, each worth over Rs. 500/= took place at Kokkeliya Buddhist temple premises with the participation of Ven. Ampare Susima Thero, Ven. Alawwe Gunarathana Thero, Brigadier N.A.P.C Napagoda, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division, 561 and 563 Brigade Commanders.
