Army troops serving the 55 Division under the Security Force Headquarters- Jaffna (SFHQ-J) recently undertook repairs and reconstruction work on 12-km long Iyakkachchi-Kaddaikadu road after its poor condition was brought to the notice of Army troops by road-users and vehicle users.
On the instructions of Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, SFHQ-J and Brigadier Ajith Wijesinghe, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division, those soldiers with machinery provided by the 10 Battalion Filed Engineer Regiment at Kankasanthurei commenced repair work.
This road that links via Kovilvayal, Mulliyan, Kevil and Kaddaikadu junction is often used by hundreds of people in the area since this is the only road that connects all the villages to the A-9 road.
