The 55 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna (SFHQ-J) celebrated its 19th anniversary with several programmes on the directions of the Brigadier N.A. Dharmrathne, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 55 Division Headquarters during December 16-23.
On 16 December, as the 1st stage of the programme, a Bodhi Pooja Pinkama, a Hindu pooja at the Mulliyan Kovil and also a Catholic mass were organized to bless all members serving the Army and transfer merits to fallen War Heroes.
Afterwards, a Guard Turnout presented by the troops of the 55 Division saluted Brigadier N.A. Dharmrathne at the Division Headquarters premises on 20 December as the 2nd stage of the programme in accordance with military traditions.
On December 21, the General Officer Commanding, senior officers and all ranks attended a Dinner Night, organized at the Warrant Officers / Sergeants Mess, Division Headquarters.
As the 4th stage of the programme, a musical show was held at the Division Headquarters’ ground and the Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Music Band provided music where Ranaviru Real Star (RRS) singers, officers and other ranks entertained the gathering by singing several songs.
