53 Division Does Community Work to Mark Army Day

Troops of the 53 Division, based in Inamaluwa, Dambulla during October 5-10 launched several community-oriented social service projects on account of the 68th Army Anniversary.

A special Bodhi Pooja, conducted in the ‘Bo Maluwa’ at the 53 Division Headquarters on Thursday (5) invoked blessings on the Army’s forward-march and the 68th Anniversary. On Friday (6) troops conducted a cleaning campaign inside the sacred Kalundewa Purana Bodhi Maluwa Watta, Vivekashshramaya. Troops after collecting the garbage carried them away for disposal.

On the Army Day (October 10), those 53 Division troops went to Madatugama Vocational Training Centre for the disabled at Kekirawa and entertained the inmates to a sumptuous lunch as part of the anniversary commemoration programmes.

Major General Athula Kodippili, General Officer Commanding, 53 Division, together with Officers and Other Rankers attended those commemorative programmes during specific days.
