52 Division cricketers in the Jaffna peninsula snatched the T - 20 Softball Cricket Trophy 2019 in the tournament, organized by the 553 Brigade under the guidance of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J).
The final match was played in the Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School (RCTMS) grounds at Maradankerni on Sunday (01). 10 cricket teams representing all Divisions (51, 52 & 55), Brigades and Battalions, deployed in the SFHQ - J area of responsibility competed in the tournament.
Finally, the 52 Division team and the 55 Division team entered the decisive final encounter. However, 52 Division team won the day and carried away the trophy defeating 55 Division cricketers by 3 wickets.
Second Lieutenant Sachintha De Silva of 4 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was adjudged the Man of the Match and the merits for the Man of the Series, Best Baller and Best Batsman were awarded to Lance Corporal Susantha Kumara of the 52 Division.
Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, the Commander, SF- J as the Chief Guest awarded the 'Security Forces Jaffna T20 Cricket Trophy – 2019’ to the winners in the 52 Division.
