52 Div Organized All-Night Pirith Chanting Invokes Blessings

An all-night Pirith chanting ceremony at 52 Division Headquarters, Varani, Jaffna invoked blessings on the New Year during a recent special ceremony.

Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

15 members of the Maha Sangha, conducted in a colourful procession during the chanting invoked blessings on the country, injured War Heroes and all Sri Lankans. A Pen Wedima ritual bestowed merits on fallen and missing War Heroes at the final phase of the chanting, the following morning.

Offer of Heel Dana (breakfast) to Buddhist monks, the following morning (Jan 4) brought the arrangements to an end.

Brigadier W.A.V.A Sudasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, 51 and 55 General Officers Commanding, Brigade and Unit Commanders, Officers Commanding and a large gathering of soldiers were associated with the arrangements.
