500 Kilinochchi Students Get Incentives Through Malaysia's MKBA

More than 500 needy students in Kilinochchi area under the coordination of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) received school accessories and other essentials for education, thanks to the sponsorship, extended by members of the Maha Karuna Buddhist Association (MKBA) of Malaysia who are in the process of launching a series of welfare projects in the Northern Province these days.

Distribution of those incentives got underway under two phases in 66 Division and 65 Division areas following guidelines given by Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) with the participation of the main sponsor, MKBA, presided by Ven. Mugunuwela Sri Saranankara Thero, resident in Malaysia.

At first on Sunday (28), a brief ceremony held at Jayapuram Maha Vidyalaya in Jayapuram, Kilinochchi gave away those educational accessories to 250 needy students after necessary arrangements were put in place by Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana, General Officer Commanding, 66 Division, together with the support of Brigadier Subashana Welikala, 663 Brigade Commander and his troops.

In the same evening (28) those Malaysian donors went to the 65 Division area of the SFHQ-KLN and donated school incentives to another batch of 250 poor students in Thunukkai and Mallavi areas. In this connection, arrangements were organized under the guidance of Major General Sarath Weerawardhana, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division. 653 Brigade Commander, Colonel Janaka Priyadarshana and his troops got necessary arrangements in place for the distribution ceremony.

Both distribution ceremonies were attended by Ven. Mugunuwela Anuruddha Thero of the MKBA and instrumental in donating those supportive aids, together with the Kilinochchi coordinator, Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Commander, SF-KLN as the Chief Guest for both events.

Members of MKBA of Malaysia, General Secretary of the World Buddhist Youth Association, Bro. Jacob Chan Teng, Spiritual Director of the Association, Ven Sri Saranankara Nayaka Thero and Ven Anuruddha Thero of MKBA of Malaysia were among the special attendees during distribution ceremonies.

General Officers Commanding, 65 and 66 Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, principals, teachers, students and parents joined both distribution ceremonies.
