5 YEAR OLD CHILD DIES IN LTTE SHOOTING &;amp; ARMY HELPS DELIVERY ABOARD BUS

MULLAITTIVU: THE paternal love of a father sees no boundaries or restrictions, as evinced in this heartbreaking story, accompanied by the photo that follows.

LTTE terrorists in PUTHUMATTALAN “No Fire Zone” went on firing indiscriminately on civilian groups that were on the move Tuesday (21) afternoon and this small boy of 5 years, fearing for his life clung onto his father, unaware of his own fate that would befall within seconds.

The father, still unaware that his son has died in his own hands after an LTTE bullet has pierced his son’s neck area had no option, but to wrap him together and hurried to the cleared areas seeking urgent medical attention for his child.

However, the doctor attending on the child has pronounced his child has succumbed to injuries a few minutes ago before he boarded the bus to be taken to an IDP center. The photo depicts how the father with his dead son, wrapped in black polythene was bursting into tears as he sat on the bus. (See exclusive photos).

In another moving episode, Army medical troops had to help delivery of a baby to a pregnant woman (Mrs. VASHIKARAN VANDANDEVI (32)) in PUTHUKUDIRIPPU area while she was being taken to an IDP center on a bus Tuesday (21) evening at about 7.20 p.m.

Both mother and the infant were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital by the Army after taking both of them out of the bus, bound for an IDP center. Photos are to be pasted shortly regarding this special humanitarian assignment carried out by the troops.

Meanwhile, some more civilians with severe LTTE gunshot injuries were immediately airlifted by Sri Lanka Air Force helicopters to VAVUNIYA and ANURADHAPURA hospitals, just a couple of hours ago.
