3 SLNG Troops Act in Response to Incumbent’s Request

Troops of the 3 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), attached to the 122 Brigade serving under the Security Force Headquarters – Central (SFHQ – C) carried out a Shramadana (self-help) campaign to clean the Wedihiti kanda temple in Kataragama and its premises on Wednesday (20).

The Shramadana campaign was launched in response to a request made by the Chief Incumbent at the Wedihiti Kanda temple to the Commander at 122 Brigade, Colonel K.M.K Kottawatte.

The area and surroundings of the temple remained filled with garbage because of the devotees that flocked there during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season.

A total of 62 Army personnel, including 2 officers and 60 other ranks in the 122 Brigade and 3 SLNG supported the Shramadana campaign which was also aided by a section of temple workers and devotees.

The Chief Incumbent thanked the troops for their valuable contribution.
