26 More Tamil Woman Recruits Pass Out from Kilinochchi


A batch of 26 more Tamil woman recruits from Kilinochchi after their four-month basic training at Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), passed out during a military ceremony on Saturday (9).

Those recruits, apart from military training, learnt Sinhala and English languages as alternative communicative tools, together with basic computer knowledge and self-employment opportunities. The training also included educational tours to the south and different other areas.   
 
A demonstration of drills and physical training features, presented by those new recruits, plus a mini tattoo, comprised of dog shows, Stunt Riding Vehicle dismounting and assembling, bridge assembling, band displays and cultural and musical features at the SFHQ-KLN ‘Nelum Piyasa’ auditorium, added colour to the event.   

Ms. Rupawathi Kethiswaran, District Secretary for Kilinochchi attended the event as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN.  

Government Officials, Religious leaders of all denominations, senior officers of the Army, Air Force and Police and more than 2000 members of the general public attended the ceremony at the SFHQ-KLN.
 
Recruit M.S Rubini, who scored the highest aggregates in all subjects during the training, was adjudged as the Best Recruit for her outstanding performance in the course.

Recruit J. Thuvaraka received the trophy as the Best Woman Soldier with physical fitness. In addition instructors were also awarded trophies for the Best Platoon Commander, Best Platoon Sergeant and Best Section Commander.
