Inmates at 'Sarana' Home for Elders at Ampara were hosted to a sumptuous lunch and provided entertainment by 24 Division troops on account of the New Year on Friday (14).
On a proposal of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 24 Division, Brigadier L.M Mudalige, the occasion of the treat was attended by 5 officers and 25 other rankers.
All 40 adults who enjoyed the luncheon treat provided by the Army on that day, enjoyed the musical variety presented afterwards by the visiting troops. Troops also donated a stock of essentials and gift parcels to each of the inmates at the same time after the troops voluntarily pocketed out their own money for the worthy cause.
Inmates during the arrangement had a day of fun and freely interacted with the troops and exchanged pleasantries while recalling their good olden days.
GOC and several senior officers were among the participants in the programme.
