24 Division Troops Donate Blood on Account of Division’s 4th Anniversary

More than 450 Officers and Other Rankers serving the 24 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) volunteered to give blood to the blood banks of Ampara and Polonnaruwa to coincide with the 4th anniversary of the 24 Division Headquarters in Ampara.

The programme organized under the guidance of Major General Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 24 Division was attended by a team of four doctors from Ampara Hospital and two doctors from Polonnaruwa Hospital, together with 29 other members of the medical staff from both hospitals.

Members of the Army from Brigades, Training Schools and Units in the 24 Division area joined the day’s programme at Ampara.

Authorities in Ampara and Polonnaruwa Hospitals thanked the GOC, 24 Division for organizing the event enabling them to collect required blood for patients at both these hospitals.

Dr P.K.C Lanka Jayasinghe, Director General Ampara Hospital, Dr Hansa Ramanayake, Consultant, Blood Transfusion Service Unit, Doctors from Ampara and Polonnaruwa hospitals, together with Major General Mahinda Mudalige, GOC, 24 Division, Colonel Vipula Chandrasiri, 241 Brigade Commander, Colonel Upul Weerakoon, 242 Brigade Commander, Colonel Sisira Kumara, Colonel Coordination, 24 Division, Officers and Other Ranks attended the inaugural occasion.
