To mark the 69th Independence Day, 24 Division Headquarters at Ampara under the Security Force Headquarters- East offered a lunch treat to 40 inmates at the ‘Sarana’ Elders’ Home, Ampara and carried out a cleaning project on the eve of the National Independence Day.
During the day’s event, Brigadier L. M Mudalige, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 24 Division visited the location and freely shared views with them and inquired into their needs.
A Calypso musical group added music rhythms and entertained the inmates before lunch was served. Several adults enjoyed and coloured the event by singing their favourite songs.
During the event, sugar, milk powder packets, soap, dry rations, etc were gifted to the inmates by the troops serving the 24 Division.
GOC, 24 Division together with 12 officers, including Colonel General Staff, Colonel Admin & Quartering, Staff officers, Civil Coordinating Officer and 50 other ranks attended the occasion.
