234 Brigade Distributes Fishing Items among Five Resettled Families

AS A PART of its continuing post-war humanitarian assistance, a stock of items needed for fishing were distributed among five poor families by 18th (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment [18 (V) SLSR] serving under Batticaloa-based 234 Brigade on Saturday (07) during a simple ceremony  function held at 18 (V) SLSR Headquarters.

The donation sponsored by Seva Lanka Foundation included five push-bicycles, five fishing nets, each weighing about 3.5 kg and five wooden boxes to be used for selling fish.

The items worth of Rs. 75000/= were distributed among S. Raguharan of Kaladi, M. Wijayaraja of Ariyampathi, V. Muththulingam of Unnachchi, K. Sinnathambi of Chenkalady and  S. Udaya Kumar of Puthukkudiruppu  by District Director Seva Lanka S. Thiyagarajah, Commanding Officer 18 (V) SLSR Major H.A.D.P De Alwis and Officer Commanding of the Town Sector Captain R.M.J.P Rajapaksa.

The recipients were selected from the IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) families resettled in the area for this donation which will assist them to continue with their livelihood.

Commander 234 Brigade Colonel K.D.C.G.J. Thilakaratne coordinated the donation.
