Troops of the 22 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) recently joined hands with officials and workers at the office of the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) and Health workers for two days (27-29 Dec) and launched a special Dengue Prevention Programme in Andankulam, Chinabay and Palaiyoothu areas in Trincomalee with the objective of diminishing the spread of Dengue epidemic.
Dr. T Indramathy, MOH in Uppuveli has made the request in this regard to Major General Aruna Jayasekara, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division since those areas had reported the most number of Dengue cases in the most recent past.
Troops inspected more than 450 households for mosquito breeding spots and vulnerable places during the two-day drive and educated the people on the nature of its spread and measures, needed to be adopted to stem its spread.
Religious and Community leaders also supported the Army initiative.
