In order to enlighten Troops, Police Officers, Coastal Guard officials and civilians in vulnerable areas to meet with any emergency situation or disasters, a team of professionals conducted an awareness workshop on Friday (25) at the District Secretariat Office in Trincomalee.
The awareness programme was organized by the 22 Division with the coordination of Mr K Gunadasa, Director, District Disaster Management, District Secretariat, Trincomalee.
The awareness programme educated the attendees on disaster management and emergency measures need to be taken in such eventualities in the district.
A total of 251 personnel representing the Army, Navy, Police and Civil agencies participated in the arrangement.
On the invitation of Major General Aruna Jayasekara, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, Brigadier Priyantha Senarathne, Commandant, Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa and Lieutenant Colonel J.M.S.G.B Jayamaha, Commanding Officer, Infantry Training School, Minneriya conducted relevant lectures on disaster management during the project.
Towards the end of the day’s programme, the 222 Brigade Commander awarded a token of appreciation to the guest speakers.
