22 Division Soldiers Join National Dengue Eradication Campaign

More than 300 Army soldiers and officers serving the 22 Division lent their weight to the island-wide Dengue eradication programme conducted continuously for four consecutive days in Trincomalee a few days ago.

All the areas in the Trincomalee town center, Linganagar, Thilinnagar, Abhayapura, Puliyankulam, Pattaneru, Pumbuhar and Manayaveli Grama Seva sectors that fall under the Kadawath Divisional Secretariat  were covered during this 4-day long cleaning campaign  with the support of the general public.

Following directions given by Brigadier A. K. S Perera, General Officer Commanding in the 22 Division, officers and soldiers in the area joined hands together with civilians for this mammoth campaign, now a national requirement in the face of increasing threat of Dengue across the country.

On the same lines of thinking, the 22 Division Headquarters marked its 13th Anniversary of founding by way of organizing a series of Shramadana campaigns during the latter part of July, this year. Both sideways on Orr’s Hill road were completely cleaned up during these projects.
