22 Division troops in collaboration with the Police and the ‘Lak Kalana Club’ jointly organized an eye clinic and distributed 300 pairs of spectacles among under privileged people with vision impairments in Trincomalee area at Sri Vajiraramaya Temple in Trincomalee on Saturday (09).
The medical team of the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society conducted this mobile clinic and screened more than 460 civilians who are suffering from ailments and vision impairments before they were recommended the use of spectacles.
The arrangements to this effect were coordinated actively by the 22 Division under the guidance of Major General Aruna Jayasekara, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division.
The Eye Clinic coincided with the ‘World Vision Day’ on Monday (18). Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society - Colombo contributed their technical and expertise support to make the programmes success.
221 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Sumith Premalal attended the event as the day’s Chief Guest, together with DIG Mr R.M.N.G Perera, Trincomalee.
Mr Sugath Prasantha, Chairperson, Lak Kalana club, together with Several Senior Army Officers, Police officers and government officials also participated at the event.
