The Pudukkulam 214 Brigade Headquarters under Wanni Security Forces Headquarters, hitherto remained housed in temporary structures, recently moved into a new complex, constructed with the labour, donated by all troops and members of the Civil Defence Force. The location has been allotted by the District Secretary.
The 214 Brigade raised on 19th February 1997, found its home in Puthukulam area in the year 2003 after serving different areas in the north, but its offices remained housed in temporary buildings, made of wood and tin sheets.
Contributions made by officers, other ranks and members of the Civil Defence Force (CDF) under the guidance of Colonel K Premathilaka, 214 Brigade Commander made this new building complex a reality where all the administrative wings could be accommodated.
An all- night Pirith chanting on 23rd July, coupled with an alms-giving to Buddhist monks on the following morning coincided with the inaugural opening ceremony.
Major General G.D.H.K Gunaratne, Commander, Security Forces Wanni and Competent Authority for IDP resettlement in the North ceremonially opened the new office complex, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.
