2 Woman Officers and 29 Other Ranks Pass Out in Colourful Ceremony at Kudaoya

2 Woman Officers and 29 Other Ranks who underwent Special Operation Support Group Training passed out in a colourful passing-out parade at the Uva-Kudaoya, Commando Regiment Training School (CRTS). It took place on Saturday (10) during a formal military ceremony, dignified by the presence of Major General Janaka Walgama, Military Secretary as the Chief Guest for the occasion, representing the Commander of the Army.

A formal Guard Turnout and a military parade, presented by those graduands saluted the day's Chief Guest who afterwards reviewed the parade in the company of the parade commander, Captain Y.M.S Yapa.

The day's event assumed more significance as those woman Army personnel staged mock demonstrations, depicting their diverse skills in Firing and Weapon handling, Riding, VVIP protection, Unarmed combat, etc in the presence of the large gathering, comprised of their parents, relatives, well-wishers and senior officers. Brigadier Ralph Nugera, Colonel of the Regiment of Commando Regiment (CR) delivering a brief speech welcomed the Chief Guest and the attendees at the outset of the ceremony.

Major General Janaka Walgama, Chief Guest for the occasion made a brief speech to the occasion and wished them good luck for their future.

Those woman officers and other ranks who underwent five months long training at this CRTS will serve around the island under the Sri Lanka Army.
