Troops of 2 (V) Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) in the SFHQ- East celebrated their 38th Anniversary with a series of commemorative programmes, including special religious observances on Saturday (26) on the directions of the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Bathiya Jayaweera.
The anniversary ceremony commenced with a Bodhi Pooja and a Gilanpasa Pooja, followed by invocation of blessings on the troops at the sacred Somawathiya temple.
On the anniversary day (26), military formalities commenced with a Guard Turnout salute, presented to its Commanding Officer by SLSC troops.
Afterwards, a newly constructed Corporals’ club was opened by the Commanding Officer and mementos were offered at the same time to several retired Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and civil staff who retired in 2017 in appreciation of their invaluable services.
As the day’s final event, a special luncheon treat was offered to 22 Military Veterans who reside at ‘Home for Tri- Service Veterans’ at Bollegala, Katana. A Calypso Band entertainment and supply of healthy beverages added more significance to the event. A parcel of essential items and a token of appreciation were also offered to them.
