143 Brigade Troops Prevent Breach of Tank Bund

1 Sri Lanka National Guard troops of the 143 Brigade under the 14 Division in Wariyapola area had to stack sand bags around Anumethiyagama Tank bund in Hendiyapola today (27) in order to seal a leakage in the tank band. A total of 15 Army personnel attended to the emergency and prevented the piercing of the tank further.

Meanwhile, 23 troops of the 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 31 troops of the 2 Sri Lanka Service Corps and 17 troops of the Commando Regiment of SFHQ-West jointly with civilians stacked sandbags along both banks of the Jawa Ela canal on Sunday (27).

As the canal in Ja Ela town was overflowing, Army troops and civilians together hurried to the location and stacked sand bags along the bank to prevent water seeping into low lying areas.
