A bushfire erupted in the teak plantation in the general area of Kumaragama in the Tanamalwila divisional secretariat area was brought under control by the troops of the 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and 17(V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) under the 121 Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) on Sunday (07).
A group of soldiers including two officers and 20 other ranks of the 121 Brigade contributed to the control of the emergency need.
Within a few hours, the troops managed to douse the fire and brought the situation under control.
